winfun: nurturing child development through play at every stage

According to the concept of “function pleasure” coined by the famous psychologist Karl Bühler (1879-1963), “children obtain pleasure through movement.”

As the name winfun suggests, we want children to ‘win’ new skills while having ‘fun’.

As one of the world’s leading providers of baby and kids products designed for different developmental phases, all winfun® products are designed to nurture development through play.

The winfun® product development team includes a number of child psychologists and parents, committed to developing products for pre-school children that combine innovative features and fun for the whole family, and that encourage learning and healthy development through play, encouraging parents to play an active role in their child’s development.

Each product’s design is based on the winfun CPS Parenting System® which targets the key developmental skills (cognitive, physical and social), and comes with a detailed label description telling parents how to focus on a range of different developmental skills, including knowledge, creativity and play, to meet their child’s needs at different stages of their development.

Let’s take a closer look at these key developmental skills of a child:

Cognitive Development: Cognitive development is the construction of thought processes, including problem solving, creativity and curiosity, from childhood through adolescence to adulthood.

Physical Development: Physical development is the process that starts in human infancy and continues into late adolescence concentrating on gross and fine motor skills as well as sensory.

Social Development: Social development refers to the process by which a child learns to interact with others around them. It includes the child's communication, emotional being and self-expression.

winfun have created four stages to group their products into according to age appropriateness and the relevant stage of the child’s development. These four stages support the winfun CPS Parenting System® as follows:

Stage 1: Newborn babies spend much of their time sleeping and tend to tire easily. Nevertheless, the first few months of a baby’s life are an important phase for strengthening the parent-child bond and laying the foundations for developing cognitive, emotional, and language skills.

An example of a stage 1 winfun toy would be the Day 'N Night Bunny Pal.

Stage 2: From six months, babies are still heavily dependent on their parents. It is also a period of rapid growth and development – babies start to make their first meaningful sounds and learn to crawl and walk. During this phase, babies can sit up unaided; by twelve months, they can stand and start to learn how to walk.

A stage 2 toy that supports this stage of development would be the winfun - Learn With Me Puppy Pal.

Stage 3: In the transition phase from infant to toddler from 12 months, children learn how to talk and develop more advanced cognitive skills. Unlike the first twelve months of a baby’s life when most changes are physical, this developmental phase is characterised by a greater sense of independence and better communication skills.

A great stage 3 toy would be the Junior Rider Rocking Horse.

Stage 4: During the ‘terrible twos’, toddlers develop a greater desire for independence. Despite this rebellious behaviour, these developmental changes help little ones to explore and develop an interest in the world around them. This phase is also an important time to promote positive social skills.

Support this stage with the stage 4 Lil Learner Alphabet Backpack.

winfun’s goal is to help parents understand what is taking place in their child’s brain and body during each stage of development. Our hope is that through our comprehensive range of toys, parents such as yourself will be able to provide the necessary support, encouragement, structure and interventions to enable your child to progress through each stage as smoothly and successfully as possible based on your child’s unique set of traits and interests.
